Postpartum Moments with Madi

I take a deep breathe. The air smells like lavender and home. It has been a long moment since I have written in this space, but I felt tiny swirls of inspiration stirring in the morning light at my computer this morning, and I have so many stories I still want to tell.
Many, will reamain only in my heart. Or perhaps, I will document them indirectly, without words, honoring the vibrations while maintaining the sacred veil I drape when a client requests to keep their images private. Time will tell.
Today, I am here to hold space for a very special mama and family. With their photos and a small kiss of their story.
A precipitous home birth, the birthing mother was held. Not just by her home, her intentions, and her husband, but by her own mother, who happened to be a midwife as well. It was so lovely, to step into this postpartum space in the following days, and document these ethereal moments of soft touch, tender learning, and beautiful first time magic.
This session was the embodiment of the word soft. In all its strength and wonder. The grandmother midwife prepared and processed mothers placenta, and nourished mother with a smoothie. There were nursing moments, tender steps into family and home. Moments to honor the birth spaces, and the nursery room. Moments with Ludo, their fantasic four legged family member. And little footprint recording at the end.
I still feel such a strong connection to this family and this mother. It is an honor to share just a few beautiful moments from this session. <3
